The 2023 continues for the Dallas Cowboys this week as they host the New England Patriots. Though Dallas bouncing back after Week 3's disaster is one of the top pregame storylines, the biggest is the return of franchise legend Ezkiel Elliott, who moved on to New England this offseason.
Despite splitting from the Cowboys, it's clear Elliott is still excited to suit up at AT&T Stadium once again.
The three-time Pro Bowler said "it'll be fun to go back to Dallas," per Jon Machota of the Athletic. He highlighted spending "so much time" there makes this something he's looking forward to considering his history playing in front of Cowboys fans.
It's honestly great to see Elliott anticipating his return Jerry World and being nothing but class after this breakup. The talented RB could take a scorched-earth approach and make it clear he's out to prove Dallas wrong. Instead, he's simply looking forward to the moment.
While Elliott's Patriots tenure didn't start strong, he finally got going in Week 3. The vet tallied a team-high 80 rushing yards on just 16 attempts while adding a catch for another 7 receiving yards as well. His efforts on the ground helped New England finally get its first win of the season after beginning the year 0-2.
Elliott admitted he's feeling fresher after playing under 40% of the Pats' snaps over the first three games, and that could be bad news for a Cowboys defense that just gave 222 yards on the ground to the lowly Arizona Cardinals in Week 3.
Stopping Elliott and New England's run game will be key to Dallas bouncing back in Week 4.
