Frustrating CeeDee Lamb Update Emerges as Cowboys Enter Camp

The star wide receiver and the Cowboys seem still far apart on a new deal with training camp on the horizon.

The Dallas Cowboys told reporters and fans after the 2023 season that they were “all in” for 2024. The Cowboys haven’t lived up to that notion this offseason as they’ve surprisingly not handed out contract extensions to Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, or Micah Parsons.

Prescott and Lamb are the two more pressing extensions the Cowboys must get done. But it hasn’t happened yet, despite seeing other star quarterbacks and wide receivers getting paid this offseason.

The Cowboys are scheduled to open up training camp this week in Oxnard, California, and the looming extensions for Prescott and Lamb will be one of the main topics of conversation.

Prescott will likely be at training camp after participating in offseason workouts. However, there's a good chance we won’t see Lamb based on the latest reporting coming out of Dallas.

Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Hasn’t Held Substantial Talks With Star Wide Receiver

Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday that the organization hasn’t had substantial talks with Lamb.

If you are a Cowboys fan, this piece of reporting from Watkins isn’t surprising, given the lack of news out of Dallas about a potential extension for Lamb. Coincidentally, the last person to speak about Lamb was Prescott a couple of weeks ago,

The Cowboys starting quarterback said that Lamb ‘is going to be ready’ and he’s been throwing with the star receiver. However, Dallas’ front office hasn’t done a good job of instilling confidence in their fans about the pending contract negotiations around Prescott and Lamb.

That said, the pressure is on Dallas to get a deal done with Lamb, who has proven he’s one of the best wide receivers in the league. Last season, Lamb had 135 receptions (181 targets) for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The 25-year-old receiver takes that offense to another level, and if he’s not on the field, Dallas will not be viewed as a threat to win the NFC East or NFC.
