Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has yet to appear at training camp as he awaits a new contract.

The uber-talented wideout has seen many receivers across the league get paid this offseason after coming off an outstanding 2023 season. The Cowboys’ brass knows they must pay the former first-round pick, but they’ve decided to stand pat thus far in negotiations with Lamb.

The latest news we heard about Lamb and a potential new contract was positive as Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones told NFL Network’s Jane Slater that they sent the star wide receiver a new offer during the first week of training camp.

However, it’s been radio silent since Jones put that out there. With the Cowboys’ first preseason game on the horizon, the pressure to get a deal done becomes more urgent. Nonetheless, Jerry Jones has a different plan for the star wide receiver’s contract demands.

After the Cowboys’ joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams, Jones was asked about the team’s contract talks with Lamb. Jones told reporters he doesn’t have any urgency to get a deal done, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

It’s not shocking to see Jones take a hardball approach as this saga has been ongoing since earlier this summer. But if you are a Cowboys fan, you don’t want to hear Jones say this as it could force Lamb to extend his hold out.

The former Oklahoma star was one of the best receivers last season, posting career-highs in receptions (135), targets (181), receiving yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12). Without Lamb on the field, the Cowboys have no shot at winning the NFC East this season.

As we get deeper into the preseason, it will be interesting to see if the Cowboys will blink and give Lamb what he wants or continue to hold firm.
