The Dallas Cowboys are heading into a pressure-filled year in 2024. They have constantly fallen short in the postseason but now another storyline has emerged.

Quarterback Dak Prescott is heading into the final year of his deal but fans shouldn't expect a long term deal to get done.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys and Prescott have a mutual understanding of his contract situation and Dallas hasn't offered him a new deal. Jerry Jones said, “We are where we are, locked and loaded for this year.” There's no indication that a new contract is on the horizon.

Cowboys News: A Long-Term Deal Between Dak Prescott and Dallas Isn't Expected

Prescott has been in Dallas since 2016 and has been one of the most effective signal callers in the league.

He has a 73-41 record as a starter and has shown the ability to lead Dallas to multiple division titles. Although he hasn't delivered in the postseason, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Just last season, Prescott was third in the NFL in passing yards (4,516), second in QBR (72.7), and first in passing touchdowns (36). He's now tossed at least 4,400 passing yards with 30-plus passing scores in two of the past three seasons.

The top four highest-paid QBs in the league make at least $50 million a year and that's the ballpark Prescott will certainly aim for.

Who knows if things will change but Prescott is expected to play the 2024 season on the final year of his current deal.

Nonetheless, Dallas has one of the best rosters in the NFL. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Cowboys have the fifth-highest odds (+1300) to win the Super Bowl. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
