Mavericks Disrespected in NBA Championship Odds

Despite loading up on talent at the trade deadline and being on a winning streak, the Dallas Mavericks are underestimated by sportsbooks.

The Dallas Mavericks were one of the most active teams in the NBA at the trade deadline. They bolstered their frontcourt rotation with the additions of Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington as the Mavs look to finish the season strong to make a deep postseason run.

And they are off to a good start. Heading into the All-Star break, the Mavericks won six straight, their longest winning streak of the season. They are sitting in seventh place with a 32-23 record, but are only a game behind the fifth-place Phoenix Suns, and seven games behind the conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves.

No team is running away with it in the Western Conference, and the Dallas Mavericks, with their newfound depth, are as good a bet as any to finish in the top four.

However, the oddsmakers aren't giving the Mavericks much of a chance in the playoffs. On FanDuel Sportsbook, Dallas is a long shot (+3600) to win the NBA championship. The Mavericks have the 11th-best odds to win it all this season.

2023-24 NBA Championship Odds

This puts Dallas behind the likes of Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Denver, and LA Clippers in the Western Conference. However, the Mavs should have no fear of facing any of these teams in the postseason.

Luka Doncic is one of the best playoff performers in the NBA and he has the ability to single-handedly beat any team in a seven-game series, just ask the Phoenix Suns. No team in the West will want to face the Mavericks as Dallas has the chance to have the best player on the court in any series. That is a huge advantage in the NBA playoffs.

If you want to take advantage of the disrespect sportsbooks have towards the Dallas Mavericks, head over to FanDuel and claim your sign-up bonus of $150 when you make a winning bet of $5.
