The Dallas Cowboys will always be heavily discussed but that is what comes with being America's Team.

The Cowboys had a lot of extra drama and speculation around the team this offseason, mainly about wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. He was holding out of training camp in search of a new contract but the team finally decided to cave in and gave the superstar WR a big-time deal.

Now with that chapter finally closed, head coach Mike McCarthy made his first public comments on Lamb's contract.

Cowboys News: Mike McCarthy Discusses Ceedee Lamb and His New Deal

When speaking with reporters on Monday afternoon, McCarthy was happy to have Lamb locked in and ready to report to the building.

"I was excited, but I think just like anything your being updated frequently on where things stand. I was anticipating a sooner or later type situation today, so, yeah, it was good to get this done. I think we’re all relieved."

There might not be anyone in Dallas more excited than McCarthy. Even though the Cowboys have won 12 games in three straight seasons, they have failed to do anything in the postseason. That has caused Jerry Jones and company not to give McCarthy an extension and he heads into the 2024 season on the final year of his deal.

The offense revolves around Lamb's dynamic ability. The Oklahoma product can line up all across the formation and has thrived in McCarthy's offense.

Over the past three years, Lamb has reeled in 321 receptions for 4,210 receiving yards, and 32 touchdowns.

The combination of Lamb and McCarthy definitely works so of course the 60-year-old coach is happy to have his star back in the building.
