The drama-filled offseason of the Dallas Cowboys is continuing with no end in sight. CeeDee Lamb is still in a contract holdout and despite the regular season being less than a month away, Jerry Jones doesn't think there is a sense of urgency about the situation.

The Dallas Cowboys have their first preseason game against the Rams on Sunday but it doesn't sound like the Lamb saga is going to slow down any time soon. Head coach Mike McCarthy naturally can't escape questions about the drama.

When asked about it in a press conference on Friday, McCarthy had a more friendly tone towards Lamb than the Cowboys owner. Before saying that it is all business, McCarthy reinforced his love for his player. The Athletic's Jon Machota reported that McCarthy had nothing but good things to say about the star wide receiver.

Cowboys News: Mike McCarthy Breaks Silence on CeeDee Lamb Situation

Entering the final year of his contract, Lamb understandably wants his next deal to be commensurate with the value he brings. In 2023, in his age-24 season, Lamb played every game and had 135 catches, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns, cementing his status as one of the three best receivers in the league. In his four years in the NFL, he already earned three Pro Bowls and two All-Pro honors.

This makes him at least a $30 million player. Realistically, considering his age, he should be the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

There are currently four WRs in the league making over that range. Justin Jefferson makes $35, AJ Brown makes $32 million while Tyreek Hill and Amon-Ra St. Brown are right at $30 million per year. Lamb will almost certainly make this number five but he will likely require more to end his contract holdout.

Unless Jerry Jones wants the Cowboys' season to be over before it starts, it's time to pay Lamb.
