The Dallas Cowboys decided they wanted to run it back with basically the same team this upcoming year. Owner Jerry Jones said the team would be aggressive in free agency but that was far from the truth.

The Cowboys have made a few veteran additions, including Eric Kendricks and Ezekiel Elliott. Outside of those moves, Dallas focused on improving the team through the draft.

Kendricks had made some harsh comments in the past about defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and he recently changed his tone regarding his coach.

Cowboys News: Eric Kendricks Says He's Happy to Reunite With Mike Zimmer

Zimmer and Kendricks were together with the Minnesota Vikings from 2015-2021. The 67-year-old was fired by Minnesota in 2021 after they finished the year 8-9.

Kendricks took a shot at Zimmer saying the coach had a 'fear-based' style in January 2022.

The 32-year-old recently walked back on his comments when he talked to Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Kendricks said his 'emotions were high.' He also said, "We're very excited. It's good to be back with him. I love his walkthroughs. I love the little ways he does things, the way he structures things, the level of detail, so I'm excited. I really am."

That's the type of energy you need heading into 2024 as there is immense pressure on the Cowboys.

During his eight-year tenure with the Vikings, Zimmer went 72-56-1, won two division titles, and had three playoff berths.

Meanwhile, Kendricks recorded 832 total tackles, 46 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks under Zimmer with the Vikings.

These two guys were able to have a lot of success with the Vikings and are looking to do the same in Dallas.

The 2015 second-round pick understands that and made the wise decision to take back those comments on his new defensive coordinator/former coach. There's no reason to head into the year with unnecessary drama.
