Perfect Tony Pollard Replacement Will Be Hitting the Open Market
Free agency is set to kick off in a few days and players around the league will be inking new deals. Tony Pollard is one of those guys who is touching the open market after Dallas declined to not place the franchise tag on him for the second consecutive year.
One interesting option is going to hit the open market and the Dallas Cowboys should kick the tires on a potential match.
Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, RB Derrick Henry is unlikely to head back to the Tennessee Titans after an eight-year run with the club.
Cowboys Rumors: Derrick Henry Could Be a Nice Addition in Dallas
With Henry expected to find a new home in 2024, Dallas could be an intriguing option. The four-time Pro Bowl selection is a barreling workhorse in the backfield who is tough to bring down once he gets a full head of steam.
In his eight-year career, Henry has notched 9,502 rushing yards with 90 touchdowns, including five seasons with 1,000-plus rushing yards. Just last season, Henry led the NFL in carries (280), was second in rushing yards (1,167), and tied for seventh in rushing touchdowns (12).
Even though Henry is 30 years old, he can still be effective and would fit perfectly in Dallas' offense. Additionally, he owns a house in Dallas and works out in the area during the offseason. If he joins the Cowboys, he could stay in the area throughout the year.
The Cowboys own one of the best rosters in the league and have a real shot of reaching Super Bowl LIX. They currently have the seventh-best odds in the NFL to win the whole thing at +1400.
