The Dallas Cowboys have done well drafting for the majority of the past 10 years. 2023 wasn’t great though, which has raised concerns this year. Dallas did practically nothing in free agency, putting pressure on themselves to draft well.

Despite the issues with their most recent class, there have been enough hits to be encouraged. Let’s rank their best selections over the past 10 years — and hope the 2024 class brings more gems to the roster.

6. Jake Ferguson, TE (2022)

With Dalton Schultz playing on the franchise tag, the Cowboys set themselves up to move on in 2023 by selecting Jake Ferguson in the fourth round. The Wisconsin product had a mild rookie season with 19 receptions for 174 yards — and two touchdowns. Despite the low output, he did enough that Dak Prescott was singing his praises headed into 2023.

The front office still had concerns which is why they took Luke Schoonmaker in Round 2 last year, a move that proved to be a reach. Ferguson quickly proved Prescott correct in his assessment as he had 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns. He was also one of the few players to rise to the occasion in the playoffs, hauling in 10 passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns in the loss to Green Bay.

Entering his third season, Ferguson has already established himself as one of the top tight ends in the NFC. Fresh off his first Pro Bowl nod, he’s determined to prove this team can take the next step.
