3. CeeDee Lamb, WR, (2020)

2020 was a tough year for everyone to navigate and the NFL was no exception. Faced with the pandemic, they had to do a lot of their offseason work virtually, and that included Jerry Jones chilling on a yacht while the Cowboys orchestrated an excellent draft.

Dallas had zeroed in on defensive players but when CeeDee Lamb was still available at No. 17, they pulled the trigger on the Oklahoma wide receiver. He joined a roster that had Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup at wideout and they were each coming off 1,000-yard campaigns but he still was talented enough to rack up 935 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie.

Lamb has only improved since then and has put up at least 1,000 yards in each of the next three years. In 2023, he even led the NFL with 135 receptions while going for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns — which was needed since they moved on from Cooper ahead of the 2022 season.

Heading into 2024, there were concerns he could hold out as he seeks a new contract. That’s not the case as he said he would be there for the offseason work but the Cowboys are going to have to open the checkbook soon if they want to keep him around.
