The Dallas Cowboys entered the offseason with a clear need to improve the roster in multiple areas. After being bounced in the Wild Card round to the Green Bay Packers, the Cowboys decided to stay quiet in free agency and attack the bulk of their needs in the NFL Draft.

Dallas ended up drafting eight total players and signing 12 undrafted free agents. The Cowboys rookie minicamps ran from May 10-11, and a hometown player is feeling the stress of being a Cowboy.

Dallas inked former Texas linebacker Byron Vaughns as an undrafted free agent, who is a Fort Worth native.

He has been around Dallas his whole life, as some of his family members are Cowboys fans. Even though he's been with the Cowboys for a short time, Vaughns is feeling the pressure.

"I kinda felt that pressure, cause my cousin had a wedding the next day. I kinda felt that pressure talking to the people about them being Cowboy fans and what they expect from us this year. Knowing it’s a lot of pressure, it’s a part of the game. I can only handle what I can do."

Vaughns started his collegiate career going to the University of Texas from 2019-2020 before transferring to Utah State from 2021-2022. For his senior season, he went back to his home state, playing at Baylor in 2023.

In his collegiate career, Vaughs finished with 146 total tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks.

He has an uphill climb to make the roster as an undrafted free agent but he will have some extra fuel knowing his playing for his hometown team.

It doesn't matter how long he's been on the team but the pressure of being on America's Team is real.
