The Dallas Cowboys may not be having the offseason their players and fans were hoping for as the team has largely stood pat during free agency, but at least teammates are standing up for one another as media and opposing coaches take shots at them.

The most recent iteration of this took place earlier this week. Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Jori Epstein said that a defensive coach in the league has told her about some of his concerns about Micah Parsons and his level of play. Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs chimed in to defend his fellow All-Pro defender.

The criticism aimed at Parsons was the fact that he allegedly takes plays off and doesn't show up when his team needs him the most.

"When the Cowboys are winning, Micah' a Hall of Fame player, when the Cowboys need him most, he's pretty average (...) Chris Jones takes off some plays but he makes them when they matter most. Micah isn't 100% in all plays but he kind of makes them when they matter least."

That is a ridiculous statement to be made for any one defensive player. Dallas has struggled to perform in the postseason over the last few seasons, but putting the blame on one pass rusher is unfair. Claiming that one of the best defensive players in the league isn't worthy of a contract extension despite averaging 13.5 sacks per season is certainly a choice.

And Trevon Diggs, fortunately, was having none of it. Pathetic coach, indeed.
