Update: Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is feared to have torn his ACL on Thursday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. If confirmed, the star CB would miss the rest of the 2023 season. Our original story follows below.

The Dallas Cowboys' injury luck seemed to be turning around in Week 3. Safety Donovan Wilson is eyeing his season debut this Sunday, and left guard Tyler Smith has made big strides in his recovery from a hamstring strain.

However, Thursday's practice brought word of a potentially major injury to star cornerback Trevon Diggs.

Cowboys News: Trevon Diggs Injury Update

Several Cowboys beat reporters said Diggs was seen walking around on crutches following Thursday's session. Micahel Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News then added the two-time Pro Bowler was injured during 1-on-1 drills, while his colleague David Moore revealed it is a knee issue.

This news should have fans on high alert. A knee injury that puts a player in crutches is always a major concern. Even if it's just precautionary, it's on the more extreme side and shows Dallas is taking this very seriously.

The worry here isn't just on Diggs' Week 3 availability, but beyond. There's several important ligaments in that area that could have been injured, and even a strain could result in a few missed games. That's not even to mention the season-ending possibilities, which are unfortunately a legitimate possibility until we know more.

Losing Diggs would be a massive blow to a Dallas secondary that's already without Wilson. The former First Team All-Pro has made his presence felt from the jump this season, recording an interception, three passes defended and a forced fumble over the first two games.

Hopefully we find out Diggs avoided the worst. For now, though, all we can do is play the waiting game.
