Now that long-term Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is out of the picture in Dallas, the speculations surrounding his replacement are in full swing. Whether it will be an in-house promotion or an outside hire remains to be seen, but one Cowboys star has already chimed in with an endorsement.

Trevon Diggs Endorses Al Harris for Defensive Coordinator Opening

Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs posted on social media immediately after the news of Dan Quinn's departure broke. His message was succinct: Al Harris for DC.

Harris and Diggs arrived in Dallas at the same time in 2020. Former star cornerback himself, Harris and Diggs had a positive relationship since then. The Cowboys' secondary coach over the last few seasons, Harris helped construct one of the most elite defensive units in the NFL. Last season, the Cowboys ranked fifth in the league in passing yards allowed.

Throughout his tenure, he helped develop Diggs from a second-round selection into one of the best corners in the league. His 2021 season with 11 interceptions remains one of the greatest cornerback performances for a whole season in recent memory.

So, this endorsement is no surprise. Harris helped change the cornerback position in his playing days with his physical, bump-and-run style and now his impact on Diggs as a player has been undeniable.

Diggs may be right. It's hard to find a coach more deserving of the Cowboys' defensive coordinator gig than Harris. That is if he doesn't follow Quinn to Washington of course.
