Who Do the Rangers Play Next? Everything You Need to Know About the ALCS
After sweeping the 101-win Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS, the Texas Rangers are headed to the ALCS for the first time since 2011. As of Wednesday night, their matchup for the next round has been set.
Here's everything you need to know about what lies ahead for the Rangers in the AL Championship Series.
AL Championship Series Opponent
Texas will face a familiar foe -- the Houston Astros -- in the 2023 ALCS. Both teams battled down to the wire for first place in the AL West during the regular season, even finishing with identical 90-72 records. The Astros won the division because of a tiebreaker, however, by winning the season series against Texas.
After beating the Minnesota Twins 3-1 in the ALDS, Houston will make its seventh straight appearance in the ALCS. Four of those trips (2017, 2019, 2021, 2022) have resulted in World Series berths, while two (2018, 2020) have ended in losses.
When it comes to postseason experience, the Astros certainly have the edge.
