The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 2024 campaign, which followed an extremely frustrating offseason. Despite his promise to go all-in, Jerry Jones refused to make the necessary roster upgrades before the season. Then the injuries hit and the Cowboys' questionable depth couldn't overcome key absences.

This year, Cowboys fans are hoping that Jones learned his lesson. In his latest remarks to the press, the Cowboys owner and general manager seems to have changed his tune. Per The Athletic's Jon Machota, Jones said he isn't going to be "aggressive" in free agency and will look to "fill most of their voids in the draft."

Cowboys News: Jerry Jones Isn't Going "All-In" This Time Around

While this seems like a controversial take at first, Cowboys fans should be happy with the statement. Jones has historically said one thing and done the opposite. If the history repeats itself, we could see the Cowboys being active and aggressive when free agency officially kicks off on March 12.

The Dallas Cowboys began the offseason with over $54 million in cap space. This number will obviously change after Dak Prescott's restructuring, roster cuts, and contract extensions. While this should be enough for the Cowboys to land good starters, the team has ten draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft that they can use to upgrade the roster.

Jones has generally done a good job finding value on the margins through the NFL Draft. Armed with the No. 12 overall pick, the Cowboys can trade down and add more picks. Giving Prescott more weapons, both running back and wide receiver, should be among the top priorities for the Cowboys. Whether Jones does that through the draft, like he said, or he will once again do the opposite and do it through free agency remains to be seen.
