It's been a drama-filled day for the Dallas Cowboys as the calendar turned over to August. Earlier in the day, The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that Micah Parsons was considering severing ties with the organization after contract talks had hit a standstill.

And the news only got worse as Parsons went on his X account and officially requested a trade out of Dallas and took some massive jabs at the organization in the process.

Micah Parsons Went Off on the Cowboys with Shocking Trade Request

In screenshots posted on his account and early in the note he wrote, "Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here. I no longer want to be held to close the door negotiations without my agent present."

Parsons added in the text that he wanted to negotiate an extension for the last two offseasons, but nothing has advanced. He and Jerry Jones engaged in a back-and-forth in what he wanted from a potential extension, but told the owner he would have his agent reach out. Instead of having those conversations, the Cowboys went radio silent.

Parsons was even willing to take less money on a potential extension a few years ago, yet that didn't happen, and that was on Dallas' end. And at the end of the note, Parsons stated, "Still, I stayed quiet but again after repeated shots at myself and all narratives I have made a tough decision I no longer want to play for Dallas Cowboys. My trade request has submitted to Stephen Jones personally."

This post is very telling and shows that Parsons himself is over the clown show in Dallas. Since setting foot in the NFL in 2021, he has been one of the best pass rushers in the league. Over the last four seasons, Parsons has been ranked fifth in the league in sacks (52.5), securing double-digit sacks in every season.

The Penn State product has been a four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro selection. He's just 26 years old and is entering the prime of his career. Parsons is easily a top-three player at his position with all the tools to be a multi-time Defensive Player of the Year winner.

He made it known that he wanted to be in Dallas for the long haul, but management failed to hammer out a deal. Instead, they waited for the price to go up, and aren't even engaging in any contract talks.

You can't blame Parsons for asking out. If Dallas doesn't want to give him the extension that he rightfully deserves, there are plenty of other teams that will. He's made it clear that he wants out of Texas.

And the worst part is, all of this could have been avoided.
