The Dallas Cowboys have used the offseason to make a flurry of additions to the roster. The Cowboys used free agency to make some low-cost signings, and that included RB Javonte Williams.

He inked a one-year, $3 million deal in March, and the latest report is positive news for him. According to Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com, Williams will be taking the majority of first-team reps in OTAs.

He wrote, "In the early goings of OTAs, Williams has been taking a majority of the first team reps at running back.”

The Cowboys had Rico Dowdle leave town in free agency and decided to replace him with Williams. Last season, Dallas was 27th in the league in rushing offense (100.3), and they are looking to get better in that area.

Aside from adding Williams, they drafted Tyler Booker in the first round to bolster the offensive line. They also drafted Jaydon Blue in the fifth round in April's draft. Regardless, Williams is getting the early shot to lock down that RB1 position.

Williams recently expressed that he's feeling fully healthy going into the 2025 campaign. That is major considering he tore his ACL, LCL, and posterior lateral corner three years ago.

The North Carolina product inked a one-year prove-it deal with Dallas, but he sounds like he will get the opportunity to take advantage. Considering the passing attack features CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Jake Ferguson, defenses can't load up the box.

That will create more favorable matchups for Williams, and it's all on him to produce. In 54 NFL games, he has compiled 2,394 rushing yards, 966 receiving yards, and 16 total touchdowns.

Williams is a bruising runner with soft hands out of the backfield. It's clear the coaching staff believes in him already, and he will get the chance to prove them right.
