Round 7 – Jalin Moore – Running Back – Appalachian State

We all know that Ezekiel Elliott is “all world”. Rod Smith is a capable backup, but after them, there is not much on the Cowboys roster. I don’t think the Cowboys will look early in the draft for a running back and without a sixth round pick right now, Moore in the seventh could be a great pickup for what the Cowboys need in running back depth.

Moore has enough speed and agility to be a quality running back in the NFL. He has great vision and seems to find the end zone as well as anyone in this class. He was a three down back at Appalachian State, and scored a ton of touchdowns. He is a solid pass catcher, is a willing blocker, and has enough burst to take one long or to the house.

Moore didn’t play against really high level of competition and has a lot of mileage already. He also sometimes misses a cut and gets stuffed. I wasn’t sure if it was the blocking or him, but it is an issue at times. As a third running back he will do everything you ask of him and maybe a little more. He is a solid pickup who can spell Zeke when needed.

Wrap up

The Cowboys could also look to add offensive line depth like Isaiah Prince who would be a solid swing tackle, but for now I think they will possibly look in free agency. This draft fills some depth and needs at deeper positions in this draft. I think there is some weak positions in free agency and in the draft that could cause some moves to be telegraphed.

With the combine winding down and pro days upcoming some of this could change, but for now, we will assume these are the rounds some of these players will go. I think Hodge could go earlier and if he does then linebacker might be grabbed earlier.

Let me know below what you think of this draft. Remember, this is not a dream scenario draft and was dependent on how other teams would draft. There is some possibilities of players dropping and climbing, but this was how the draft shook out more often than not.
