Andre James, UCLA

What’s Good: Experience

What Ain’t Good: Hip flexibility, Athleticism

I don’t understand how UCLA has such a difficult time recruiting offensive linemen. Last year, Kolton Miller was drafted far too early and now his replacement Andre James enters the draft. Both weren’t very good in college yet both were asked to play left tackle.

More from Cowboys Draft

While James has experience playing left and right tackle, it doesn’t help that he’s really slow as a pass protector. He takes forever to get out of his stance and as a result can get pushed around. Such will happen when you can’t plant your feet into the ground before you engage in a war of “who can fend off the other foe by simply pushing off with their arms.”

Speaking of being slow, turns out he isn’t very good at changing direction either. He ran a whopping 8.0 second 3 cone drill according to NFL.com. Daylon Mack ran that fast but unlike James, who weighs 299 pounds, Mack weighs 336 pounds. Point being, James simply isn’t a good enough athlete to play at the next level no matter how good his technique may be.
