OT Hakeem Adeniji, Kansas

Would you believe it? Another Kansas player from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The last two, Dorance Armstrong and Daniel Wise, both played on the defensive side of the ball. Adeniji is a bit different in that he plays predominantly on the offensive side. Either way, the Garland, Texas product is a big boi listed at 6’5″, 300 pounds and he plays like one too.

More from Cowboys Draft

When Adeniji gets his hand on a defender the defender is usually swallowed up. In pass protection his long arms mitigate the impact of a bull or power rush as he essentially stonewalls defenders. (Pretty impressive considering his body control is slightly above average) However, Adeniji isn’t the most agile lineman and that means he can get beat by speedy and bendy pass rushers. There isn’t much variation to his pass sets and this might be a big reason why.

As a run blocker, his strength is great for laying out defenders at the second level. Countless times we will flip linebackers and defensive backs trying to run block. At the line, he displays the same power but can lose his footing if defensive ends move in different directions. Even so, Adeniji was instrumental in the success of Kansas’s running game led by Pooka Williams Jr.
