Azur Kamara

Edge – Kansas

Azur Kamara is a very raw prospect who flashes some athleticism and power that turned some heads leading up to the draft. Only one year of starting production leaves some questions to what he can become, but what he has shown gives enough hope for his development. With a great story and drive he is someone to watch and hope for.

Kamara has some undeniable speed to his game and has learned enough to understand how to rush gaps and get to the quarterback quickly. He has a good first step and if the quarterback doesn’t see him coming, can pop the quarterback pretty well. He has the speed to chase down plays from the backside and has said he is willing to play gunner in the NFL.

Kamara is very raw and needs more work on becoming a more versatile edge. He doesn’t have the best bend and tends to strictly rely on bull rushing at this point. He needs to learn how to adjust to quarterbacks who are a little more mobile in the pocket and finish tackles better on more agile ball carriers. He is developmental prospect with NFL-caliber physical gifts ready to build upon. He’s a long-term project for the Dallas Cowboys.

More from Cowboys Draft

That’s all…for now…

The Dallas Cowboys could still add some more undrafted free agents. They still need competition at punter and a name like Joseph Charlton out of South Carolina is still available (as of writing this). They could also bring in some camp arms at quarterback. There will probably be some churning of the free agents, but as of today these are the guys they have signed.

Undrafted free agents don’t always work out, but a lot of them provide depth and handle the scout team responsibilities. This might be one of the first years I can remember that there weren’t more than a few small school prospects brought in by the Cowboys. Everyone they brought in needs work, but their physical tools are there for their base.

With the unknown of rookie mini-camps and training camp due to COVID-19, there could be more churning than usual. There are still some players who haven’t signed and the XFL players should be free agents soon. Add in the after draft cuts, some of these may not make it to training camp if there is one.
