The Dallas Cowboys Defense is poor and needs an infusion of talent. This years NFL Draft is full of Defensive Talent.

The Dallas Cowboys Defense has shown that they need help. The veterans that they have brought in to help their defense have failed. The Cowboys just recently traded Everson Griffen to the Detroit Lions for a conditional sixth round pick that has the opportunity to turn into a fifth round pick.

The 2021 NFL Draft has 5 players who have high ceilings when it comes to potential. If the Dallas Cowboys want to rebuild their defense through this years draft, then it would be smart to look at these 5 players.

1. Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State

Micah Parsons has made a huge impact since stepping foot on the Penn State campus. Parsons has made a major impact on the defensive side of the ball for the Nittany Lions. Micah Parsons has a total of 99 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles in two years at Penn State.

In many reports they have compared Micah Parsons to Khalil Mack. Parsons would give the Dallas Cowboys a great run defender. He also can play standing up or with his hand on the ground, which is something that could really benefit the Dallas Cowboys Defense. If Parsons is there when the Dallas Cowboys make their selection then they should grab him.

2. Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

Dallas needs help at the cornerback position the most. Caleb Farley has been a major impact on the Virginia Tech Defense. Farley has 43 solo tackles, 19 pass deflections, 6 interceptions, and 1 touchdown in his career at Virginia Tech.

When looking at Caleb Farley a lot of NFL Experts see a comparison to Byron Jones. The Dallas Cowboys would be getting a big physical corner with their pick. The Virginia Tech corner has great speed and is great in both man-to-man coverage and zone coverage. One thing that stands out about Farley is his closing speed and his ability to not get beat down the field by wide receivers.

3. Ar’Darius Washington, S, TCU

Ar’Darius Washington may be 5’8, but he plays like he is 6’1. Washington has 45 solo tackles and 5 interceptions in his career at TCU. The Dallas Cowboys would be getting a defensive player that can play all over the field.

Many NFL experts have compared Ar’Darius Washington to Kansas City Chiefs Safety Tyrann Mathieu. The Dallas Cowboys Defense would be getting a player that has a great football IQ. Washington also gives the defense a player that has great instincts, range, athleticism, and ball skills. The most important piece of Ar’Darius Washington’s game is that he has the ability to close down the middle of the field.

4. Asante Samuel JR, CB, Florida State

Asante Samuel JR will look to follow in his fathers foot steps in the NFL. Samuel JR possesses a lot of the same skills that his father had when he played. This season Asante Samuel JR has 19 solo tackles, 3 interceptions, and 5 pass deflections for the Seminole Defense.

The Dallas Cowboys Defense would be getting a corner that comes from a football family and a player with great football IQ. Samuel JR is also an amazing open field tackler that has a very ceiling when it comes to potential. One thing that stands out the most about Asante Samuel JR is that he has top notch ball skills. Samuel JR may be there for the Dallas Cowboys on the second or third day of the Draft.

5. Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State

Marvin Wilson has been a big contributor to the Florida State Seminole defense. The big defensive tackle has made impacts on many games that the Seminoles have played. Wilson has 50 solo tackles, 9.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles in his career at Florida State.

When you watch Marvin Wilson play the first thing that stands out to you is his power. The defensive tackle uses his hands well and has explosive power. Wilson would give the Dallas Cowboys Defense a huge boost on the interior. He would clog up running lanes and can move quickly for his size. Wilson is another defensive player that has the potential to be there on the second or third day for the Dallas Cowboys.
