Dallas Cowboys Undrafted Free Agents 2021: Who are these Guys?
T.J. Vasher – Wide Receiver – Texas Tech
Here’s a fun situational player for the Dallas Cowboys. Vasher is an absolute matchup nightmare due to his height and length. Standing at 6’6” he commands a player on him with some size as smaller defensive backs don’t stand a chance on jump balls. He is a long strider who gets downfield and uses his body well to shield defenders from the ball. He will fight back to the ball and uses his insane frame to make some difficult catches.

For as athletic as Vasher is due to his frame it can work against him as he will stutter step off the line and in short areas. His release is a little slow as he works to get up to top speed which, with the stutter steps allows receivers to stay on him throughout the route. His route tree is basic and will need work at the next level. While he flashes good hands, sometimes he will juggle balls when he doesn’t need to.
Vasher offers redzone capability right away due to his size and reach. He will need to make strides in route running to be more than a spot-duty type player long-term. For now, he is a depth receiver who can create mismatches that will frustrate some teams.
More to Come?
There are still some free agents out there to be signed and teams may be waiting to see who gets cut before reaching out. The other factor is whether teams will have a rookie minicamp as some teams have already canceled them. This impacts some of the quarterbacks who usually would be brought in for camp arms. Zach Smith out of Tulsa is a name to watch if the Cowboys do decide to bring in a camp arm as he is local.
There will be more moves, but for now these are the rookie free agents that have been announced. While not all will make the team, hopefully, this helps get a better grasp of who they are and their potential roles for the team. Now, on to the second free agency now that the draft is over.
