Winning three out of their first ten games was certainly not the season the Dallas Cowboys had envisioned. A disastrous campaign mired by injuries, blowout losses, and off-field drama has started to take its toll on the players.

After the Cowboys embarrassingly suffered their fifth straight loss at home to the Texans, CeeDee Lamb sent a stern message to the team. Stating that teams around the NFL are looking to embarrass the Cowboys, Lamb said that they needed to step up and play with more effort for each other, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

With Dak Prescott out for the season, Lamb has taken on more of a leadership role in recent weeks. His latest statement should be seen as an attempt to light a fire under his teammates.

"We've got to go out and play harder, bro. We got to play for the guy lining up next to us, lining up to our left and to our right. Put them before yourself. "

While the Cowboys can certainly play harder and be more competitive in these games, there are much larger problems within the organization than effort. While star players, including Lamb, haven't played up to their standard so far this season, this roster is also nowhere near where it needs to be in terms of quality and depth to be Super Bowl contenders.

After having a career season in 2023 where he put up 135 catches, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns, Lamb came back to earth this season. In 10 games so far, he has 774 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Even if he and the team manage to pick it up in the final stretch of the season, it will likely be too little, too late to make the postseason.
