The Dallas Cowboys finally gave fans what they have been waiting for all offseason by trading for George Pickens on Wednesday. Another elite wide receiver besides CeeDee Lamb was considered to be the main weakness on the Cowboys roster, and Jerry Jones didn't waste any more time before adding one.

Pulling off the trade at this point gives the Cowboys the chance to make the rest of their offseason plans accordingly. With that in mind, they released a wide receiver from their 90-man roster ahead of training camp.

Cowboys insider Calvin Watkins reported that Dallas released Seth Williams, a journeyman playmaker who signed with the Cowboys' practice squad in October 2024. He had signed a reserve/future contract with the team after the season, but will now be looking for his new team after failing to suit up in a game for the Cowboys.

Williams was a sixth-round pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2021 NFL Draft after a successful three-year collegiate career at Auburn. Despite being a No. 1 receiver at Auburn, Williams has struggled to carry over that production to the NFL so far.

With the Broncos, Williams played in two games (one start), making one catch for 34 yards, and was released after his rookie campaign. He spent time with the Jaguars since then, but didn't get a chance to play in an NFL game for Jacksonville.

The 25-year-old is still young enough and has some upside thanks to his athletic tools and six-foot-three frame, so he will likely get a training camp roster spot elsewhere. But, he is certainly running out of chances to make an active roster and establish his NFL career.
