Cowboys Finally Sign Brandin Cooks Replacement Ahead of Week 6

The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with injuries on various fronts. Since they are depleted on the defensive side of the ball, Brandin Cooks landing on the injured reserve list didn't receive the attention it warranted. The Cowboys were able to come away with the win in Week 5 against the Steelers but roster moves were necessary to address the depth concerns.
On Tuesday, the Cowboys finally addressed their need at wide receiver by signing former Auburn standout Seth Williams to the practice squad.
NFL News: Cowboys Sign WR Seth Williams
The Cowboys called up veteran linebacker Nick Vigil and defensive end Carl Lawson to the active roster after Marshawn Kneeland was placed on the IR list. The two practice squad spots opened up by these moves were filled by Williams and defensive end Luiji Vilain.
Williams was a sixth-round pick by the Broncos in the 2021 NFL Draft. He appeared in two games in his rookie season but failed to make another appearance in the league since then. He spent the last two seasons on the Jaguars practice squad.
Before making it to the NFL, Williams spent three seasons at Auburn, putting up 2,124 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in 36 games there. He will be looking for a chance to revive his career in Dallas.
In Cooks' absence, Jalen Tolbert emerged as the WR2 for the Cowboys, finishing with seven catches for 87 yards and a touchdown against the Steelers. Jalen Brooks, Kavontae Turpin, and Ryan Flournoy all stepped into larger roles. Williams will have his work cut out for him to beat one of these names for a rotation role.
