The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3-1 entering Week 8 as they begin preparations to travel to play the Denver Broncos on Sunday. This team's offense has been dynamic all season long, but the defense has been an ongoing problem.
The trade deadline is on Nov. 4, and the Cowboys may need to make a move on the defensive side. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen released an article ranking the top 25 players who could be moved at the deadline, with one being linked to Dallas. In that piece, Cincinnati Bengals LB Logan Wilson came in at No. 11, and the Cowboys were labeled as a team fit.
"The Bengals are going younger at linebacker, relegating Wilson to a reserve role in favor of rookie Barrett Carter despite Wilson's status as a team captain. Teams I've talked to believe the Bengals are open to dealing Wilson, whose base salary is $5.4 million this season. Next year, Wilson has a base of $6 million," Fowler wrote.
With it sounding like Wilson is up for grabs, he would be the perfect addition to Dallas' defense.
Cowboys Should Seriously Consider Making Move for LB Logan Wilson
Wilson is second on the Bengals in LB snaps (342), but has played in less than 50% of the total snaps over the last two weeks. During the 2025 season, he has 41 total tackles and four pass deflections. Entering Week 8, his overall Pro Football Focus grade is 58.6, which isn't earth-shattering but is better than what the Cowboys throw out there now.
Heading into this season, Wilson has recorded 100-plus tackles in four straight years and has the athleticism to be a solid pass defender. With him signed through the 2027 season and a cap hit under $10 million, it would be a move that factors in this season and has the flexibility for more.
DeMarvion Overshown's practice window has been opened by the team, and he'll have a chance to be activated to the active roster within 21 days. That news put linebacker Kenneth Murray Jr. on the hot seat.
Despite leading the team in total tackles (51), Murray has a 40.3 overall grade (77th among 77 graded LBs) and a 29.3 run-defense grade (84th among 84 graded LBs). He has struggled immensely in the middle of the field, which leaves a ton to be desired.
Jack Sanborn has missed the last two games due to a concussion, but he also had his fair share of problems. It's led to an uptick in snaps for rookie linebacker Shemar James, yet he's still going through some growing pains.
Although Overshown is one of the better players on the field when healthy, the Cowboys should look into Wilson. It will take time for Overshown to get back in his normal flow. That is just another reason why Dallas should look into bringing Wilson ahead of the deadline.
