Cowboys Make Big QB Announcement After Horrible Week 10 Loss
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys had a nightmare of a weekend when they suffered yet another embarrassing loss, falling to 3-6 for the season. This one came against their bitter rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, who improved to 7-2 for the season and took the lead in the division.
As the Cowboys lost all hope for the season with Sunday's loss, the team made an announcement that not many fans were particularly excited about. Per Jon Machota of The Athletic, head coach Mike McCarthy announced that they will continue starting Cooper Rush at quarterback going forward.
NFL News: Cooper Rush Will Continue to Start for the Cowboys
Rush started his first game for the Cowboys since the 2022 season and had a disastrous performance like the rest of the team. He completed 13 of 23 passes for a total of 45 passes with a 61.7 passer rating and lost two fumbles. He was eventually benched in favor of Trey Lance at the end of the third quarter. In his Cowboys debut, Lance fared only slightly better, completing four of six passes for 21 yards while adding 17 yards on the ground.
The team as a whole had a miserable 146 total yards for the game, averaging 2.6 yards per play.
Considering how poorly the Cowboys offense played with Rush under center, it is surprising that the team decided to stick with him. Dallas takes on the Houston Texans in Monday Night Football in Week 11. The Cowboys opened as 7.5-point home underdogs against the 6-4 Texans on FanDuel Sportsbook.
