Cowboys Reveal Shockingly Long Return Timeline for Injured Stud
By Joe Summers
The Cowboys received more devastating DeMarvion Overshown injury news on Tuesday following Mike McCarthy's press conference on Tuesday.
Dallas' head coach spoke to the media and revealed that it's a strong possibility that Overshown could miss the entire 2025 season after tearing his ACL, MCL, and PCL during the Cowboys' loss to the Bengals on Monday Night Football.
His teammates were appropriately heartbroken and unfortunately for the rising star, this type of injury could derail his entire career.
Cowboys Think DeMarvion Overshown Could Miss All of 2025 Season
Everything about this situation is terrible. Overshown, who was selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, emerged as an ideal partner for Micah Parsons as the defense hopes to return to the levels it produced over the last couple of seasons.
The Cowboys have no chance at making the playoffs and obviously have significant decisions to make in the offseason about McCarthy and the roster as a whole. Overshown was one of the major bright spots the organization could look at and feel confident about, yet this injury derails all of that optimism.
Through 13 games, Overshown compiled 90 tackles, five sacks, four deflected passes, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. The 24-year-old looked like a foundational piece of this defense but now huge questions exist about his ability to become the star he was well on his way to becoming.
There are limited examples of players coming back from injuries of this magnitude and finding success, though all should hope Overshown can overcome the setback. He's a fantastic player with a bright future, signaling just how brutal this injury is.
Whether or not Dallas keeps McCarthy, Overshown remains one of the key components of the roster. If the Cowboys have any opportunity of making the playoffs consistently over the next few seasons, they'll need the defense to rebound in a big way.
Overshown likely won't be part of that unit next year but here's hoping he's back at full strength in 2026.
