A Week 14 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals wasn't the only thing the Dallas Cowboys lost on Monday night.

Second-year linebacker DeMarvion Overshown exited with a knee injury during the fourth quarter of Monday's 27-20 loss to the Bengals and didn't return. Although his official status wasn't revealed by the end of the game, the fact that Overshown was immediately ruled out left the Cowboys fanbase worried about his outlook.

Even though some fans did their best to remain optimistic in the last 24 hours, the latest injury update is likely the one that they were fearing the most.

Cowboys News: LB DeMarvion Overshown Suffers Torn ACL, MCL & PCL

ESPN's Todd Archer reported on Tuesday afternoon that Overshown has been diagnosed with tears to his ACL, MCL, and PCL. The 24-year-old defender is scheduled to have surgery later this week and will need "significant recovery time" before he returns to the gridiron.

Knee-related injuries can be debilitating, so it wouldn't be surprising if Overshown is forced to miss the start of the 2025 season. Even though injuries are a part of the football experience, the ex-Texas Longhorn's situation is deeply affecting owner and general manager Jerry Jones.

"I just can't tell you how bad I feel for him because he's just been through that mental and physical rehab on his other knee," Jones said during Tuesday's 105.3 The Fan appearance, per Archer. "Bottom line is it's really sad that he's having to have this surgery for him as an individual and obviously us as a team."

The other knee injury that Jones is referring to happened before the 2023 campaign.

After being drafted 90th overall by the Cowboys in 2023, Overshown had the town buzzing during an impressive preseason performance. Unfortunately, the hype train quickly became derailed when the Tyler, TX native tore his left ACL against the Seattle Seahawks, effectively ending his rookie season before it began.

Overshown battled hard throughout his rehab, which led to him finally making his NFL debut this season. Overshown was one of the Cowboys' most reliable defenders, racking up 56 solo tackles, five sacks, four defended passes, one forced fumble, and a 23-yard Pick-6.

His 78.9 pass rush grade also ranks sixth among 42 eligible linebackers, per Pro Football Focus, proving just what sort of impact player he can be when healthy.

Following Monday's loss, Overshown looked for support on social media to help him get through this tough time.

"Wouldn’t want this for anyone else," the injured defender posted on X. "One of God’s toughest soldiers... Keep me in your prayers"

Hopefully, Overshown will fully recover before re-joining the Cowboys next season. If he can remain healthy going forward, he has Pro Bowl potential. He will likely have a key role reserve in next year's lineup, whether or not head coach Mike McCarthy is back behind the bench in 2025.
