Ex-Cowboy Reuniting With Former Team After Dallas Release
By Cem Yolbulan
Adding to the frustration of the season, the Dallas Cowboys just had a deeply disappointing trade deadline. Not only did they overpay in a deal for WR Jonathan Mingo, but they also released two offseason additions. CB Andrew Booth Jr, who the Cowboys traded for before the season, and DT Jordan Phillips, who the Cowboys acquired by the Giants for a sixth-round pick, were both released, signaling the failure of the offseason.
Phillips didn't waste any time reuniting with a former team. The veteran defensive tackle signed with the Buffalo Bulls immediately after his release.

This will be Phillips' third stint in Buffalo. He was first claimed off the waivers there in the middle of the 2018 season and appeared 28 games there before being signed by the Cardinals in the 2020 offseason. His 2019 campaign with the Bills remains his best season as a pro, as he finished with 9.5 sacks and 16 QB hits.
He made his return to Buffalo in the 2022 offseason before signing with the Giants in April 2024. His time in New York didn't last very long, as he was traded to the Cowboys at the beginning of the season.
Through the first half of the season in Dallas, the 32-year-old defensive lineman appeared in two games and 34 snaps in total. He will likely be in a backup role in Buffalo as well, waiting for his turn behind DaQuan Jones and Ed Oliver.
