The Dallas Cowboys saw plenty of roster movement as they stumbled through a 7-10 season and that trend has continued in free agency with several faces departing for greener pastures. But before many of the moves were made the Cowboys made a significant trade during training camp, sending Nahshon Wright to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for Andrew Booth Jr.

Booth hasn’t made a big impact with the Cowboys, logging a 35.6 overall grade and a 28.7 coverage grade in his first season in Dallas. But it was more of a return than Wright gave the Vikings, who appeared in one game before he was released on Monday.

It turns out that Wright needed just one day to find a new home and his move across the NFC North will give the former Cowboys bust another opportunity.

Cowboys Bust Nahshon Wright Signs With Bears

According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, the Chicago Bears have agreed to sign Wright to a one-year deal. Wright will join a cornerback room that currently includes Jaylon Johnson, Tyrique Stevenson, and Kyler Gordon as starters, but he’ll likely battle for a depth spot along with Terell Smith, Nick McCloud, Ameer Speed, and Shaun Wade.

Before his one year in Minnesota, Wright was a third-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2022 draft. The Oregon State product held a special teams role during his rookie season but appeared in seven games with career-highs in tackles (23), passes defended (23), and interceptions during his second season in 2023. But he was limited to 12 games with an ankle injury in the 2024 season and was traded to the Vikings in the middle of training camp.

Wright’s days with the Cowboys are far in the rearview mirror but Dallas is still looking for help. DaRon Bland returned late last season after suffering a stress fracture in his foot at the end of training camp and Trevon Diggs is recovering from knee surgery for the second straight offseason.

While the upcoming draft could help the Cowboys add depth, there are several other needs that have to be addressed. Either way, it’s a situation that no longer includes Wright as he’ll look to revive his career in Chicago.
