While Jerry Jones and the Cowboys front office are too busy twiddling their thumbs, the rest of the Super Bowl hopefuls are upgrading their rosters. Tuesday morning started with the trade that sent Davante Adams to the New York Jets. As big of a move as that is, Adams eventually reuniting with Aaron Rodgers was the worst-kept secret in the league.

The more surprising trade news came in the afternoon. NFL insider Jordan Schultz was the first to report that former Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper was traded from the Browns to the Bills.

NFL News: Amari Cooper Traded to the Buffalo Bills

This is a home run deal for the Bills, who desperately needed a reliable WR1 for Josh Allen. Cooper is in the final year of his contract and Buffalo will have to give him an extension in the offseason but if the five-time Pro Bowler can help them make the Super Bowl, they will gladly break the bank for the 30-year-old.

This is frustrating for Cowboys fans not only because their rivals are reloading on star talent but also because the Browns were able to get more for Cooper with half a season left on his deal than the Cowboys did back in 2022 when they sent him to Cleveland. Before the 2022 season, the Cowboys traded Cooper to the Browns in exchange for a fifth-round pick and a swap of sixth-round picks in the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Browns got back-to-back 1,000+ yard seasons out of Cooper and are now getting positive value for him before his contract expires. Whether Cooper will finally be able to find postseason success remains to be seen but the Bills certainly give him the best chance to do so at this stage of his career.
