Jerry Jones Says Quiet Part Out Loud About Frustrating Cowboys Tactics
By Cem Yolbulan
Regardless of whether they are good, bad, or just mediocre like this season, the Dallas Cowboys are always the talk of the town. They always find a way to be embroiled in drama and chaos.
Now we know why that is.
In his latest appearance on 105.3 The Fan, the Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed a frustrating truth, per The Athletic's Jon Machota. Calling the NFL a soap opera, Jones said he likes to promote interest and stir things up to keep the 365-day news cycle going.
Jerry Jones Admits He Treats Cowboys Like Reality TV
This comes on the heels of Jones' remarks about the fan tours of the Cowboys facilities. After there had been reporting about multiple former and current players complaining about the tours being a distraction, Jones basically dismissed it and said he was happy that they were making money.
"The biggest thing that makes the NFL as popular as it is, in my mind, is it’s a soap opera every day, 365 days a year. It’s promoting interest in football when the teams aren’t playing...When it gets slow around here, I will stir it up."
- Jerry Jones
This is the latest in the long list of evidence that Jones has misplaced priorities about the Dallas Cowboys. Despite promises about going all-in and making the necessary upgrades, Jones is concerned about one thing and one thing only: making money.
At the end of the day, he does not care about stirring the pot, breaking his promises, and infuriating his players, the coaching staff, and the fans, as long as he ends up winning on the business side.
