Cowboys Competing With 49ers Over Buzzy WR Prospect
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys failed to make any significant moves in free agency and currently look like they will enter the new season with a weakened roster. However, they still have ways to improve the personnel for a deep postseason run and the best way to do so will be through the draft, especially considering how impacted they are in terms of the salary cap.
The Cowboys have three picks in the top-100, first one coming at No. 24. Fans will expect them to address the key departures in the offensive line, but another area Dallas could potentially target is their wide receiver corps.
According to Jordan Schultz, one wideout prospect has emerged as an option for the Cowboys recently: Malachi Corley of Western Kentucky.
Cowboys Interested in "YAC King" Wide Receiver Prospect
Corley, who has been initially mocked to be a second-round pick, has been rising up in draft boards, with multiple top 30 visits scheduled in the upcoming weeks. One of these visits will be with the Dallas Cowboys, as well as the San Francisco 49ers.
Calling him Deebo 2.0, referring to the 49ers receiver, Schultz points out the fact that Corley has put on 15 pounds of muscle recently, making him one of the most physically gifted, athletic offensive weapons in the draft. He resembles more of a running back than a wide receiver with his elite build.
Dubbed "YAC king", Corley finished his senior season with 75 catches, 959 yards, and 11 touchdowns in 11 games with an average of 12.8 yards per catch. Even if one thinks that these numbers may be inflated due to inferior competition, Corley's ability to bulldoze through defenders with excellent balance and toughness certainly makes him a very enticing option for the Cowboys.
