Cowboys Defender Goes Off on Media For Ridiculous Dak Prescott Take
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys were embroiled in a ton of drama this offseason. Whether it was CeeDee Lamb's contract holdout, negotiations with Dak Prescott, or overall lack of urgency by Jerry Jones & Co, the Cowboys were front and center in NFL discussions. When there aren't any games going on, the media tries to find ways to generate content. This opens the door for frustratingly hot takes.
One Dallas Cowboy is finally fed up with these. Jourdan Lewis took to social media on Friday to respond to Mike Tannenbaum after his appearance on ESPN's Get Up. Tannenbaum said that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is more likely to be the starting QB for the Cowboys next year than Prescott. This infuriated Lewis who made clear of his disdain for ESPN's panel.
NFL News: Jourdan Lewis Rips ESPN For Absurd Dak Prescott Take
This is likely an intentionally incendiary and absurd take from Tannenbaum.
While it is true that Prescott and the Cowboys are in the middle of contract negotiations, there has been no indication that the sides are ready to move on. Due to the fact that the Cowboys don't have a way to replace their perennial MVP candidate with a similar caliber player, it makes little sense to not eventually give him the contract he desires.
And the ridiculous part of Tannenbaum's take is not even about Prescott. It's about Sanders. The Colorado quarterback may likely be the first quarterback selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Cowboys would have to have a top-five draft pick to be able to pick Sanders. That means they would have to be one of the worst teams in the league next season or have to give up a haul to move up in the draft to select him. Neither of those scenarios seems likely.
Lewis and Prescott have been teammates for the past seven years. They have been through thick and thin. It's great to see the veteran cornerback stand up for his teammate amidst the chaos the media is trying to sow.
