Cowboys Fans Despise Baffling Week 3 Running Back Decision
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys had a frustrating start to the season. After coming away with an impressive road win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, they got throttled by the Saints last Sunday. In Week 3, they are looking to get back on track against the winless Baltimore Ravens. Off to a disastrous start so far, the Ravens will come out the gate desperate to win, making the game the one to watch on Sunday's slate.
One of the biggest issues the Cowboys need to fix heading into Week 3 is their rushing offense. Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott both struggled to start the year, averaging 3.7 yards per carry through two games.
As a result, Cowboys fans have been hoping for a change. Many were expecting Dalvin Cook, who was a late offseason addition to the practice squad, to be elevated to the active roster. According to Cowboys insider Nick Harris, that is not happening. The team is reportedly elevating veteran defenders Carl Lawson and Nick Vigil instead.
Cowboys News: Dallas Doesn't Elevate RB Dalvin Cook
To find out how the fans are feeling about this decision, one quick glance at the replies under this tweet would be sufficient. The fanbase is understandably frustrated with Jerry Jones and the inaction surrounding the running back situation.
It's hard to know whether Cook is the answer. He very well may not be. Like Zeke, he is also past his prime.
However, the Cowboys obviously need to try something different, especially against the Ravens defense. Baltimore has by far the best run defense in the league, only allowing 99 yards on the ground and 2.7 yards per carry. It is hard to see Zeke and Dowdle making much of an impact against that defensive line. Let's hope that the Cowboys don't regret this decision on Sunday.
