Cowboys Fans Won’t Be Happy With Latest Davante Adams Trade Rumor
By Cem Yolbulan
Ever since the news that star wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, Cowboys fans have been desperately hoping for a trade that would bring him to Dallas. This desire only grew stronger when the news of Brandin Cooks' surprise injury emerged.
The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini reported that the Cowboys in fact contacted the Raiders to inquire about Adams. However, Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Cowboys reporter Nick Harris refuted that reporting. Due to the faith they have in their receiver corps, the Cowboys are reportedly not "in the mix" for Adams.
NFL Rumors: Cowboys Reportedly Not Interested in Davante Adams
Harris added that the Cowboys value draft capital too much. It is true that Adams would require an early-round pick, most likely a second-rounder. So, it's understandable to have reservations, especially given the possibility that the veteran could be a one-year rental. Yet, this is still frustrating to hear for Cowboys fans.
Jerry Jones promised before the season that they would go all-in to end their Super Bowl drought. However, it feels like they haven't actually pushed any chips to the middle of the table. Hesitating to put draft capital on the table for a star-level offensive weapon like Adams doesn't suggest an "all-in approach".
Cowboys fans are already frustrated with the lack of upgrades to the running back rotation. Now, the wide receiver room is similarly depleted both in terms of quantity and quality. If Jones doesn't address the hole created, it might be another season full of disappointment in Dallas.
