As teams prepare for their Week 5 matchups, including the Dallas Cowboys who will face the Steelers on Sunday, the NFL world received the shocking news that star wide receiver Davante Adams requested a trade from the Raiders. The 31-year-old pass-catcher informed the team of his decision on Tuesday and Las Vegas is reportedly open to the idea of moving Adams for the right package.

Understandably, WR-needy teams have already started to reach out to the Raiders to find out about the asking price. The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported that the Cowboys were among these teams monitoring the situation.

NFL News: Cowboys Reach Out to Raiders for Davante Adams

The Raiders are off to a 2-2 start but they are not going anywhere this season. At this stage of his career, Adams understandably wants to play for a Super Bowl contender and the Raiders are at least a few years away from getting to that level.

It also makes sense for the Raiders to move on from the star receiver. Adams has a potential out in his contract after this season and his trade value is still high. He started the season well once again, putting up 209 yards on 18 catches and a touchdown.

The Raiders will presumably look for an early-round pick, at least one second-round pick would be required.

The Cowboys should be interested in paying that price since they desperately need another elite receiver opposite CeeDee Lamb. The New York Jets will undoubtedly make an offer due to the Aaron Rodgers connection, so Dallas needs to beat that package to have a chance at taking their passing offense to the next level.
