Cowboys Indicate CeeDee Lamb Contract is Already Done
The Dallas Cowboys are preparing for their upcoming preseason matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders, but that hasn't stopped fans from wondering about the team's off-field situation. After all, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has yet to report to camp as he continues to see a contract that'd make him one of the NFL's highest-paid wideouts.
Along with quarterback Dak Prescott, Lamb is the straw that stirs the drink in Dallas' offense. Signing him to a new deal is crucial if the Cowboys want to end their near-30-year Super Bowl drought.
Although a new contract has yet to be finalized, the latest news coming out of the Lone Star State suggests that a contract might already be finished.
Cowboys Rumors: Did CeeDee Lamb Sign a New Contract?
On Wednesday, Cowboys COO Stephen Jones may have tipped his hand. According to Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein, Jones revealed that Lamb is "going to touch the ball a ton" — 12 to 15 targets per game — this fall and doesn't anticipate a departure from last year's workload.
For comparison, Lamb averaged a personal-best 10.6 targets per game last year, finishing with a dozen or more seven times.
The 60-year-old Cowboys co-owner even went as far as saying that Lamb is their "No. 1 go-to guy," which likely isn't something he'd say if the two sides were far apart.
"I told Mike [McCarthy] things can't change. [CeeDee Lamb's] got to be targeted 12 to 15 times a game. You got to hand it to him a couple more times. So I don't see that changing in the least bit. "

The latest contract update comes a day after the elder Jones — Jerry — revealed that the Cowboys are "conscientiously working to get something done." The 81-year-old eccentric owner also had to walk back comments he made over the weekend when he suggested that there wasn't any urgency regarding a new deal being signed.
All signs point to Lamb earning over $30 million annually on his next contract and it isn't hard to see why. The three-time Pro Bowl playmaker is coming off a season where he paced the league with 135 receptions while tallying a career-high 12 touchdowns and a franchise-record 1,749 receiving yards. He even finished third in the 2023 Offensive Player of the Year race due to his efforts.
Since making his NFL debut in 2020, the former Oklahoma WR ranks fifth among his peers in receptions (395) and receiving yards (5,145) while also sitting eighth with 32 touchdown catches.
Hopefully, Lamb and the Cowboys get a deal finalized soon so he can get back to what he does best: dominating opposing defenses. As the exhibition action continues, the 25-year-old difference-maker is tied for the second-best odds (+750) to lead the NFL in receiving yards next season, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
