Cowboys Make Last Minute Trade Before Preseason Opener
The Dallas Cowboys are getting ready for the 2024 season as they are over in Oxnard, California for training camp.
It has been an offseason full of stories for the Cowboys but they haven't been for the right reasons. The potential contract extensions of CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons, and Dak Prescott have been dangling over the head of the franchise.
Although they have their hands full with contract drama, the Cowboys made a trade right before their preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams.
Cowboys News: Dallas and Minnesota Swap Corners
Per Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys traded corner Nahshon Wright to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for corner Andrew Booth Jr.
Wright has been with the Cowboys since he was selected in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The Oregon State product is an athletic and lean defender. Wright started in three games over the past three seasons but was mostly a backup.
He's finished with 37 total tackles, five pass deflections, and an interception in his Dallas career.
As for Booth Jr, he was nabbed in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Vikings. The Clemson product hasn't been able to put it all together at the NFL level but has the traits to be an effective defender. Booth Jr. is a rangy playmaker with fluid hips, so he quickly changes directions in coverage.
In two seasons in Minnesota, the 23-year-old has logged 20 total tackles, one pass breakup, and zero interceptions.
Although he hasn't excelled at the NFL level in his young career, Dallas clearly likes his traits and believes they can get the best out of him.
Defensive back coach Al Harris has helped develop Trevon Diggs and DaRon Bland. Now he will get the same opportunity with Booth Jr.
