DeMarvion Overshown Shares Hilarious Rehab Routine
By Cem Yolbulan
After being selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, DeMarvion Overshown was one of the brightest young stars of the training camp. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in the second preseason game against the Seahawks, missing the entirety of his rookie season.
Fast forward a year and the former Texas Longhorn is still popping off the screen. Once again one of the stars of the preseason, Overshown is making a case for himself to be the bona fide starter from Week 1. His 11 snaps against the Rams in the first preseason game were enough to get the Cowboys fans excited about the talented defender.
Coming back from a devastating ACL injury in this way is difficult to do. The way Overshown handled the rehab process, both mentally and physically certainly deserves praise. On Monday, the 24-year-old linebacker shed some light on his approach to recovery. One story he told was particularly notable.
Cowboys Linebacker Tells Hilarious Rehab Story
Overshown recalled the times during his rehab when he would work on his reaction time in an unorthodox manner. He would grab a fly swatter and hit flies in his garage to get "little wins" because of his competitive nature.
"You got to find little wins throughout the day. There were times I would go into my garage with a fly swatter and hit flies all day. Just to feel good, just to feel something. "
- Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown
That is the difference between an elite athlete and the rest of us. They can turn swatting flies into a competitive activity to get themselves motivated. After that hilarious story, Cowboys fans are surely rooting for their hometown hero even more than they were before.
