The Dallas Cowboys spent the entire offseason ignoring concerns about their running back rotation. They moved on from Tony Pollard and replaced him with past-his-prime Ezekiel Elliott and somehow thought that they would be fine. They decided to enter the season with the Rico Dowdle and Zeke one-two punch and much to the surprise of absolutely nobody, that combination hasn't proven fruitful.

Head coach Mike McCarthy has been searching for answers there as he started Elliott in Week 1 but benched him in favor of Dowdle against the Saints in Week 2. So far, they have been carrying a similar workload, 15 carries for Dowdle and 16 attempts for Zeke. Neither of them has been particularly effective, however, as the Cowboys average a disappointing 3.7 yards per carry through two games.

While Cowboys fans are concerned about that type of production, Jerry Jones doesn't think there is anything to be concerned about. In his appearance on 105.3 The Fan, the Cowboys owner said he likes the quality and depth of their running back room.

Jerry Jones Somehow Doesn't Think the Cowboys Have an RB Problem

This is a disappointing response from Jones on an issue Cowboys fans are feeling frustrated about. He said that we didn't see them run on Sunday, referring to the Saints game. While it's true that the game was a blowout early on, the Cowboys still had 21 rushing attempts and only had 68 yards on the ground. And it's not like Dallas was dominant in the running game in Week 1 against the Browns, either.

Sometimes it may be the easy way out to blame the running backs. The offensive line certainly needs to be better. Rookie Tyler Guyton struggled in run blocking in his first two NFL games.

However, the lack of production and explosiveness by Zeke and Dowdle is undeniable. Jerry Jones would be foolish to continue to deny that and not address it at some point in the season.
