Micah Parsons Already Disagreeing With Mike McCarthy After Ugly Loss
By Cem Yolbulan
If you needed more evidence about how quickly things can change in the NFL, look no further than the Dallas Cowboys and their start to the 2024 season. Only a few days ago, the Cowboys were riding high, feeling good about their chances for a Super Bowl run after coming away with a big road win against the Cleveland Browns. Now, after suffering their second-worst loss in a home opener in franchise history, the Cowboys are in trouble and searching for answers.
On Monday, head coach Mike McCarthy made a confusing statement about the 44-19 loss. He said the team's effort level wasn't the problem, and it was just that the Saints "finished better than [they] did." After a game you trailed from wire to wire and gave up 432 yards of offense, including allowing New Orleans to score in their first five possessions of the game, that is a bizarre thing to say.
Even Micah Parsons disagreed with his head coach afterward. On his Bleacher Report podcast, Parsons blamed their lack of effort for the loss, saying that the team didn't uphold their standard.
NFL News: Micah Parsons Disagrees With Mike McCarthy on Reason For Cowboys Loss
Who Micah Parsons is referring to specifically is not clear. Yet, it's obvious that he isn't seeing eye to eye with his head coach. For his part, the star defender had three tackles and zero sacks in 44 defensive snaps. He received an impressive 86.2 overall grade on PFF for his Week 2 performance.
However, Parsons' individual brilliance didn't make an impact as the Cowboys had no answer for the Saints' offense. Alvin Kamara finished the game with 180 total yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.
The Cowboys have a massive home game against the 0-2 Ravens on Sunday. Another deflating loss could bring about big changes in Dallas.
