Micah Parsons Just Made Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb Contract Talks Even Harder
The Dallas Cowboys have mandatory minicamps running from June 4-6 but they have so many unresolved issues hanging over the organization.
Aside from their lack of moves on the trade market and free agency, the Cowboys have massive extensions looming for Dak Prescott, Micah Parsons, and CeeDee Lamb.
As players reported to the facilities to start getting right for the 2024 campaign, Lamb decided to not show up amid contract discussions.
Parsons' latest comments added more fuel to the fire and put pressure on Jerry Jones and Co.
Cowboys News: Micah Parsons Put Pressure on Cowboys to Break the Bank on CeeDee Lamb
On June 3, Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms on a four-year, $140 million deal with $110 million guaranteed, making him the highest-paid non-QB in the NFL.
Parsons spoke with the media on June 4 and expressed his excitement for Lamb. He said, "CeeDee about to hit the Brink truck. He about to get his. I can’t think of somebody more deserving. I think CeeDee’s the best receiver in the league. If you want to argue, top three, but in my eyes, seeing his mindset, how he comes every day, I think he deserves every penny. I’m going to be super excited for him for whatever his contract lays out. It’s going to be a nice contract, for sure.”
The Penn State product didn't stop there but continued to vouch for Lamb.
""If I’m his agent, CeeDee’s getting about $36 million (per year)... You could argue that CeeDee’s better, however you want to put it, but CeeDee should be right there with him.""
- Micah Parsons
You can't blame Parsons for supporting his teammate, especially with what Lamb has done on the football field since entering the league in 2020. The 25-year-old's career numbers are very similar to Jefferson's.
Justin Jefferson | CeeDee Lamb |
---|---|
Receptions: 392 | Receptions: 395 |
Receiving Yards: 5,899 | Receiving Yards: 5,145 |
Touchdowns: 30 | Touchdowns: 32 |
The Cowboys decided to sit back and watch as a bunch of receivers like A.J. Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jaylen Waddle, and the aforementioned Jefferson get massive deals this offseason.
The pressure is now on the Cowboys to cough up the money and make Lamb one of the highest-paid receivers in the league. His numbers back it up and he has the support of his teammates in the locker room and his head coach Mike McCarthy.
