Cowboys players, coaches, and fans were treated to an unprecedented surprise in practice earlier in the week. On Wednesday, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones decided to land his helicopter on the practice field while the players were warming up. Causing the practice to stop, Jones then had conversations with Dak Prescott and the coaching staff.

At the bare minimum, this was a big distraction for the players who were trying to do their jobs and prepare for Sunday's game against the Steelers. One could easily argue that it was disrespectful and unnecessary, highlighting Jones' problematic management and leadership approach.

The players and the coaches will never publicly reveal how they felt about the situation. That would be disastrous for their careers and Cowboys futures. Yet, they still need to address the media. When asked about it on Thursday, head coach Mike McCarthy opted to go with a tongue-in-cheek response.

NFL News: Mike McCarthy Addresses Jerry Jones' Practice Distraction

According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the head coach said, "Well, hey, let's be honest, he was almost late for practice. I thought I was going to have to get on his ass.”

This is understandable by McCarthy. He presumably doesn't want to cause any more distractions and would prefer to leave the incident behind. Deep down, it's not hard to imagine that no coach would want a helicopter to land on their field.

We will find out whether this stunt has had any impact on the Cowboys as they take on the Steelers on Sunday and the Lions in Week 6. Dallas simply can't afford to go on their bye week 2-4, so how the team performs in the next ten days will be crucial for management and the coaching staff.
