This CeeDee Lamb Trade Proposal Is A Terrible Idea For the Cowboys

CeeDee Lamb's contract holdout is creating trade speculation but the packages in such scenarios shouldn't be enough for the Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys are having an offseason filled with drama and controversy. The start of their mandatory minicamp didn't help either. Their star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is now officially in a contract holdout as his rookie deal is coming to a close. The 25-year-old was absent from the minicamp, opening the door for a myriad of trade speculations.

Considering that the Cowboys have to pay Dak Prescott and Micah Parsons massive deals, some have started to wonder whether they could move on from Lamb. Obviously, this would require a massive trade offer. And even then, the Cowboys should be very hesitant to trade Lamb.

Especially if the offers resemble the ones suggested by Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon. In his latest article, he makes up four proposals that allegedly Dallas "couldn't deny".

One suggested proposal is especially egregious. In this scenario, the Los Angeles Chargers give wide receiver Ladd McConkey and a first-round pick in exchange for Lamb. This would be a ridiculously bad package to give up an All-Pro receiver in his prime for.

McConkey was a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft who fell because of some injury concerns. Having a team-friendly, cost-controlled receiver would be nice but it's not enough, especially since the Chargers under Jim Harbaugh would likely be decent once they get Lamb in a trade. This lowers the value of the first-rounder that the Cowboys would receive in this deal.

The other scenarios are not that much better, either. The Patriots trading their own second-round pick Ja'Lynn Polk and a first-rounder is likely not enough for the Cowboys to answer the phone either.

The Cowboys should give Lamb the contract he desires and end this drama once and for all. However, even if they were to move on from him, it would require better deals than the ones proposed above.
