Trevon Diggs Doubles Down on His Unacceptable Post-Game Behavior
By Cem Yolbulan
The Dallas Cowboys suffered yet another loss in Week 8, falling to 3-4 for the season. The team is getting visibly frustrated as the season is slowly slipping away.
Trevon Diggs' interaction with a Cowboys reporter outside the locker room after the loss was the latest embarrassing moment in a season full of drama in Dallas. The star defender finally had a chance to address the situation in Micah Parsons' podcast, The Edge.
However, instead of apologizing for the behavior, Diggs defended himself.
NFL News: Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs Doubles Down on Post-Game Antics
Accusing the reporter of using his name to get clicks, Diggs admitted that he let his emotions get the best of him. Yet, he didn't show any remorse about the incident.
While there are certainly examples of reporters and talking heads being unfair to players, the post Diggs was upset about was an innocuous one. Cowboys reporter Mike Leslie had simply shared 49ers tight end George Kittle's 43-yard run with the caption, "What is Trevon Diggs doing on this play?"
Considering the lackluster effort by Diggs on that play, that was a reasonable question to ask. Diggs' response to it in Parsons' podcast suggests that he also knows the issue about the play. Even though the initial tweet didn't say anything about his effort level, the two-time Pro Bowler made a point of emphasizing how hard he played.
Diggs is clearly not at the level he was before his injury last season. His defensive production, metrics, and PFF grade all point to a decline. Instead of antagonizing his critics and media members, he needs to focus on getting back to his old self.
